Top Ten Hottest Fighters: For the Gentlemen

Alright fellas, here it is. The Top Ten Hottest Female Fighters! I know you've been waiting a while for it, so let's kick it off! Here are the top 10 hottest female fighters.

10. Parasoul - Skull Girls
The crown princess of the Canopy Kingdom and leader of its elite military squad, Parasoul has the authority and the aww-thority to make it onto our top ten list.

9. Elena - Street Fighter
Exotic and exciting Elena is the princess of an East African tribe who's tradition is deep into fighting. Only fair to have royalty in our number 9 spot.

8. Jade - Mortal Kombat
One of the three sisters in the Mortal Kombat series, Jade tends to get the short end of the stick (no pun intended) but she is a heavy hitter when it comes to this top ten list. She'll make her way to your heart either by her looks or by her razor sharp boomerangs.

7. Morrigan - Darkstalkers
Jumping on the vampire bandwagon from the last couple years (and in light of the recent release of Darkstalkers Ressurection), Morrigan Aensland makes the cut landing at number 7. Don't let this succubus too close though, she'll absorb your spirit as well as your heart.

6. Trish - MvC3
A demon originally created to tempt Dante, Trish is our number 6 today because of her dark past, feminine power, and let's be honest, she wears leather.

5. Chun Li - Street Fighter
One of the main protagonists of the Street Fighter series, Chun-Li's legs might be getting bigger but she isn't getting any less hotter. That's why she's our number 5.

4. Mai Shiranui - King of Fighters
Being the sex symbol of the KoF games, it's not surprising to see Mai on this list. She got a lot of flack for her outfit and animations in game, but I can't imagine our readers would have a problem being on this list.

3. Cammy - Street Fighter
She's undergone multiple reboots with her personal story line  but she's been a staple of the Street Fighter games nonetheless. Military leader and scantily clad, Cammy White makes it to our top 3.

2. Kitana - Mortal Kombat
It's no surprise to see Kitana on our list. She's the daughter of royalty, has a dark past, and wears next to nothing. Probably the best known female in fighters, Kitana is our number 2.

1. Ivy - Soul Calibur
One of the fan favorites by all sorts of folks, Ivy was voted number one by a short poll of you readers!

There you have it folks, the Top Ten Hottest Female Fighters. Comments and suggestions are welcome as always. Someone I missed? Let me know! And sorry Tekken fans, I'll have a special coming up for you to make it up to you soon enough.

Top Ten Hottest Fighters: For the Ladies

In accordance with a suggestion from my teacher, I present to you the first Top Ten list from Let's Play! Fighters. This list is for the ladies, a collection of the top ten hearthrobs from fighting games everywhere.

10. Phoenix Wright - Marvel vs Capcom 3
The hard hitting, smooth talking, well dressed lawyer from the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney games is our number 10 today. His dapper and professional appearance should be enough to get any lady he wants. That's why the verdict is, number 10.

9. Dante - Marvel vs Capcom series
Hailing from the Devil May Cry series where he originally had a strict white anime shag, Dante received a new look for the DMC reboot putting him on our list at number 9. Nothing like saving the world from the depths of hell to win a girl's heart.
8. Chris Redfield - Marvel vs Capcom series
Zombies, mutant dogs, and other terrifying monsters aren't enough to stop our number 8 from making it into the hearts of our readers.
7. Kilik - Soul series
Taking a break from the MvC series, our first contestant from the Soul series is Kilik, ringing in at number 7. His quick moves, stylish robes, and handywork with a rod makes him a contestant for our male viewers of certain persuasions.

6. Eddy Gordo - Tekken
Number 6 on our list today is Eddy Gordo, the breakdancing brazilian boxer. Thought I'd add some chocolate to the list, because what's a good top ten list without diversity. Don't get me wrong, he deserves this spot.

5. Cody - Street Fighter
Originally from the Final Fight series, Cody became a staple and hard hitter in the fighting game community. His just-got-out-of-jail look is enough to favor all the bad boy fans. Now he's just gotta redo his wardrobe and it's party time!

4. Mitsurugi - Soul series
Another badass, this time from the Soul Calibur games, Mitsurugi is one of the baddest dudes in the scene. He wields a kitana (no, not the Mortal Kombat character), as well as the hearts of countless women. That's why he's our number 4

3. Johnny Cage - Mortal Kombat

Douchebag? Check. Egoist? Check. Ladykiller? .... Sadly, it's a check too. Johnny Cage might be one of the more self-centered and cocky fighters, but he sure does know how to get the ladies. Don't agree? Just check out any Mortal Kombat storyline and sure enough, he gets the girl.

2. Ezio di Auditore - Assassin's Creed/Soul series Special Guest
Our number 2 might be a stretch seeing as his origin doesn't come from a fighting game, but his appearance in Soul Calibur 5 makes it as legit as its gonna get. Ezio is the Italian stallion of his time, the Gene Simmons of  the renaissance era, and the lover of many, many ladies. Power, looks, and money are all part of this package.

1. Ryu/Ken - Street Fighter
"How cliche!" you proclaim! Yes, I did finish this list with a tie, but it's a damn good tie in my opinion. Rivals from day 1, Ken and Ryu are the two posterboys for the Street Fighter series and what better than a fight over the hottest one? I'll let you decide, reader.

Well, there you have it folks, the top 10 hottest dudes in fighters. If anyone has any doubts, suggestions, or agreements with this list, then feel free to let me know. I'm not an expert on hot men, so please let me know if I let any of you down.

Don't worry fellas, we'll have a list for you soon enough.

Anime Takeover

Today's post is about the collective of anime fighters. I've never been very into Anime television or video games, therefore I haven't actually played any of these yet. In the fighting community the stars of anime fighters include The King of Fighters series, the Blazblue series, the Guilty Gear series, and the Persona series. Today we'll be going over the similarities and differences of these four series.

King of Fighters

There are more KoF games than I can count on my fingers. The first release was in 1994 and there has been a new release every year since excluding 2007. It's considered to be one of the more difficult and advanced fighters.

Plot (beginning with KoF 2003)KOF 2003 begins a new storyline focusing on another new lead character named Ash Crimson, a young man who seeks to possess the powers of the Three Divine Vessels for his own unknown agenda. The tournaments from KOF 2003 and KOF XI were hosted by "Those From the Past", an organization of inhuman warriors who try to break the Orochi seal to take its powers so that they can give it to their shrouded master. While KOF XII does not have a story, KOF XIII follows another tournament hosted by Those From the Past with Ash eventually confronting their superior despite him being Ash's ancestor.

BlazBlue

There are 5 releases of BlazBlue with 2 re-released versions of the second game. Created in 2008, it is considered to be a great starting game for people interested in anime fighters with deep rewards for advanced technical skill.

Plot: Before the events of the game, humanity was on the verge of extinction from a creature called the "Black Beast." The world was saved by six heroes who wielded magic. They helped humanity create "Ars Magus", a fusion of magic and science, to defeat the Black Beast. This event would be later known as the First War of Magic.
After the war, the Novus Orbis Librarium (the Library or NOL for short) was created to govern the world with the use of Ars Magus. A great deal of dissent was caused by the Library, partly due to Ars Magus' use in nearly every facet of society, and the widening socioeconomic gap between those who could and couldn't use Ars Magus. This dissent would eventually form years later into the Second War of Magic or also known as the Ikaruga Civil War, when the city of Ikaruga openly rebelled against the NOL. Upon winning the war, the NOL imposed a harsher rule on the world, punishing any rebellion against the NOL with death.
In December A.D. 2199, several years after the Second War of Magic, a branch of the NOL was utterly destroyed by an SS-class rebel named "Ragna" also known as the "Grim Reaper", in an attempt to destroy the Librarium. The NOL, hoping to stop him, immediately announced the largest bounty ever, available to anyone who could capture him. Interestingly, Ragna possesses a powerful form of Ars Magus known as the "Azure Grimoire." This led the NOL, as well as the other fighters, to hunt Ragna not just for his bounty, but also his Azure Grimoire.

Guilty Gear

Known for its unique graphics, rock and roll themes, and unique anime characters, Guilty Gear has an extensive list of games. The studio behind Guilty Gear (Arc System Works) is the same that made the BlazBlue series.

PlotThe Guilty Gear series takes place around the year 2180, in a chaotic, mystical future world. In 2010, mankind discovered an unlimited energy source of incredible power, which was labeled Magic. Despite providing a solution for world energy crisis, wars continued. The power of Magic was combined with humans and other creatures creating living weapons known as Gears. Eventually the Gears turned on the human race, beginning a century-long global war known as the Crusades where the Sacred Order of Holy Knights (Seikishidan being the Japanese name), defeated Justice, leader of the Gears. Justice having been locked away in a dimensional prison, all other Gears seemingly ceased to function, bringing end to an age of conflict.

Persona

Based off of the game "Megami Ibunroku Persona", the Persona fighting series takes off from the storyline and tweaks it a bit to fit a new game. The basis is fighting with guns and swords, but in a 2D environment (opposite of games such as Soul Calibur, which are considered 3D).

PlotMegami Ibunroku Persona centers around the protagonist and his classmates at St. Hermelin High School in Mikage-cho. Hidehiko Uesugi talks all of his friends into playing a game called "Persona", which is played much like the ritual game "Bloody Mary". While playing, the students lose consciousness and meet Philemon, who gives them the ability to summon reflections of their personalities, which are known as Personas.
A short time later, the protagonist and several of his friends go to visit Maki Sonomura, who is ill and bed-ridden. During their visit, they discover that the town is changing and demons are roaming the streets.

Skullgirls Indiegogo Drive Update!

Big Band
So a couple posts back I introduced everyone to Skullgirls, the 2D fighter created independently as a throwback to traditional fighters. Well I mentioned they were having a kickstarter/indiegogo fundraiser trying to get $150,000 to fund production on the first DLC character "Squigly". In the first day they have not only already funded the character but they have funded enough to create another unique stage and story mode for the character. On top of that, LabZero is well on the way to funding development on the first male DLC character "Big Band"

As with most kickstarter's, they have incentives based on how much money is donated, and they recently offered a brand new tier that will include a ton of goodies including a Skullgirls arcade stick! Too bad it unlocks when you donate $7,500! Oh well, I've put in my money, but if you'd like to help then head over to the website.

Weekend Update

This weekend was a busy one. It was my last few shifts at my job and I had some family in town to visit with as well. Sorry about the minor absence, I'll have more posts up soon. If you have any questions about fighters, feel free to ask!

Cheers.

GOTW: Marvel vs. Capcom 3

One of the most commonly recognized and entertaining fighters is the Marvel vs. Capcom series. MvC takes the favorite characters from a collection of Capcom games, including Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Megaman, Resident Evil, and Dead Rising, and pits them against some our favorite Marvel superheroes.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Probably the most popular and most widely recognized version of the game, MvC2 has the largest character roster to date totaling 58 playable characters. Some popular Marvel characters include Wolverine, Iron Man, the Hulk, Captain America, Magneto, Spider-man and Doctor Doom. From the Capcom side we have Morrigan, Ryu, Chun-Li, Ken,Cammy, Megaman, Jill Valentine and Strider Hiryu.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3
The most recent release of the MvC series, still with a large roster of playable characters but now with new and improved graphics. The game is still a 2D fighter (meaning the characters only move on a 2D axis) but the character renderings and backgrounds are now 3D. This was a similar tactic used in Street Fighter's fourth installment. New characters include Deadpool (Marvel Comics), M.O.D.O.K. (Marvel Comics), Dormammu (Marvel Comics), X-23 (Marvel Comcis), Viewtiful Joe (Viewtiful Joe), C. Viper (Street Fighter), Wesker (Resident Evil), Frank West (Dead Rising), Vergil (Devil May Cry), and Dante (Devil May Cry).

Get Over Here! Character of the Week- Scorpion

I want to bring in some excitement to the blog, so I'm going to be doing a weekly character breakdown including lore and basic techniques. Without further ado, here's the fighter of the week!

Scorpion
Get over here!

Hanzo Hasashi was once a member of the Japanese Shirai Ryu ninja clan. Given the name Scorpion for his blindingly fast and deadly fighting skill, his life was blessed with glorious kombat in the name of his Grand Master.
But when he, his family and his clan were brutally exterminated by Sub-Zero and the Lin Kuei, Scorpion's existence became eternal torment. Resurrected by the malevolent necromancer Quan Chi, he entered the Mortal Kombat tournament to slay Sub-Zero and avenge the murders of his kin.

Scorpion is basically the baddest dude in all the fighting games. The guy was killed by Sub-Zero and his clan the Lin Kuei, only to come back in the Mortal Kombat tournament to wreck Sub-Zero's shit. When the second tournament rolls around, he finds out that Sub-Zero is competing. This doesn't make sense, cuz he killed the poor bastard in the last tournament. Come to find out, this dude is actually Sub-Zero's brother who is out to finish the job Sub-Zero started in the first tournament aka kill Shang Tsung. Well Shang Tsung's right hand man Quan Chi was the guy who ressurected Scorpion in the first place. The Twist? Quan Chi was the one who had Sub-Zero and the Lin Kuei assassinate Scorpion and his family in the first place! So now Scorpion and Sub-Zero's lil bro are buddies, out to take on the contenders of the 2nd Mortal Kombat tournament.

Why Scorpion is so cool:
1. He has a fucking rope knife thingy
2. He's undead, with a heart set on revenge. Cliche? Maybe, but he's dope as hell
3. He can teleport
4. Access to portals connected to the Netherrealm? What more can you ask for?
Scorpion vs. Sub-Zero pt. 1
Scorpion vs Sub-Zero pt. 2
And there you have it, the dopest undead-teleporting-knife-rope-weilding-ninja-who-can-breath-fire-you-ever-did-see. Join me next time for the character of the week.
